Over the past 30 years Alpha has grown from a small offset litho printer into an innovative and forward-thinking company operating from a large-scale purpose built factory close to the M5.
Established in 1979 by current Director Jeff Williams, Alpha grew throughout the eighties, specialising in offset litho work and developed an enviable reputation for quality and reliability. In 1988, Jeff was joined by a former colleague, Dave Butt, with the aim of developing the firm’s colour printing services.
Alpha rapidly became known for its expertise, taking on some of the most challenging work from advertising and marketing agencies and surpassing the expectations of agency buyers. Over this time the company built up a core staff of experienced and dedicated professionals – many of whom are still part of the Alpha team today!
By the early 1990s the business was well established and outgrowing its aged premises. May 2001 saw Alpha move to purpose-built premises in Quedgeley and over the next few years came further expansion to house the growing print management and fulfillment services. The factory now covers over 24,000 square feet, all handily accessible from junction 12 of the M5.
From these humble beginnings, Alpha Colour is now one of the area’s leading printers with a broad client base including marketing and advertising agencies, local authorities, educational institutions and large organisations.
